First Day in Lv'iv, Ukraine

Well, I would start by introducing myself, but chances are if you are here, then already know who I am.

As I travel around Europe a little I will be trying to upload photos and video here detailing my trip and reflecting what I think to be interesting. Yesterday I flew into Ukraine and and now am staying at a friends condo in Lv'iv, Ukraine. The city here is like any old European city in the sense that it has cobble stone streets and sidewalks, building that are hundreds of years old, in some cases dating back to the 12th century (church) and the bustle of any lively city. The nice thing about Lv'iv (pronounced Li-vee-v) is that in comparison to some other cities in Europe, it is quite small. There are only about one million people that live here regularly. Now, I am sure that number has temporarily gone up because on the presence of the Euro Cup!

Oh right, I forgot to mention that Euro Cup is here!! If you don't know what Euro cup is, climb out from under the rock you have been living under and check out this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2012
In downtown Lv'iv at the moment they are setting up a huge area that has been fenced off and is guarded, with beer gardens, a massive stage and screen, and other soccer event amenities.

When I arrived here, I met with my contact, Zenko, who is a friend of a friend. After driving from the airport and dropping off my stuff at the condo, Zenko and I went for a went for a walk around the "downtown core" which, is much smaller than one would think. After grabbing some true Ukrainian food and checking out some of the older building and churches, it was back home to finally sleep after two days of painful airplane travel. Right now its06:20 and i woke up at 04:30 because of the time difference. Hopefully today I will bring my camera along for the ride and snap some photos of things I have mentioned in this post. Anyways, bye for now!
до наступного разу!
